Orange River Flood
It was a sad time for a lot of farmers along the Orange River when the flood and rain damaged their harvest. From December 2010 to February 2011 the Orange River water level raised from 2,6m to 7,5m accumulating 5076cusec of running water measured at Upington Bridge. This level was too high for the banks of the river therefore flooding the Gordonia District. Hundreds of farmers along the banks of the river lost their crops as this is the peak of harvest time for tablegrape-, wine- and raisin farmers. In total Rekopane Estates had a loss of 17h of table grapes.
